Studio
Studio is where you build strategies. On desktop it's a visual canvas: drag blocks in, connect them top to bottom, and every block you place runs in the backtest.
The blocks
| Block | What it does |
|---|---|
| Start | Your initial deposit. Exactly one per flow. |
| Recurring deposit | Adds a fixed amount every week or month (dollar-cost averaging). |
| Rebalance | Resets holdings to target weights every week, month or quarter — optionally only when a position drifts beyond a band. |
| Guardrail | Caps any single position. Your account limits still apply on top. |
| Trend filter | Checks whether an asset closes above its moving average (5–60 trading days). Branches to above and below. |
| Basket | The assets and their weights. Weights must total 100%. |
| Hold cash | Sell everything and hold USD. Only valid on the trend filter's below branch. |
Shape of a valid flow
Start → [Recurring deposit] → [Rebalance] → [Guardrail] → Basket
↘ Trend filter ─ above → Basket
└ below → Basket or Hold cash
- Deposit, Rebalance and Guardrail are optional and can each be used once.
- Only the trend filter can branch. Every other block connects to exactly one next block.
- A trend filter needs a Rebalance block before it — that's when the signal is checked.
Blocks with a problem are outlined in red with a plain explanation, such as "Connect “Start” to the next block". The panel on the right shows the strategy type and every policy check live as you edit.
On phones, Studio shows a step-by-step form instead of the canvas. Trend filters can only be edited on a larger screen.
Saving and versions
Save & backtest stores the strategy and runs a backtest over all available history. Editing a saved strategy creates a new version; earlier versions and their backtests stay unchanged.
From a strategy page
- Paper trade — follow it forward with live prices and no capital at risk. See Portfolio & paper trading.
- Publish to Discover — makes it public and starts a forward track record.
- Re-run backtest, Edit, Delete.
Strategies you don't own can be saved or copied to Studio from Discover.
